His name in Hebrew is: קהת Qehâth (keh-hawth’) Strongs #: 6955; allied.
In Jasher he is known as “Kehath.”
It is known that Kohath lived to the age of 133 (1), but it is difficult to tie it
in with the rest of the events that happened throughout his life.
In Jasher, he was still living at the birth of his grandson, Moses, although his
exact age is unknown at the time. At Moses’s birth, Kohath called him: “Abigdor”
(2) because of Elohim healing the breach in the house of Jacob, that they could no
longer throw their children in the water.
Kohath was not enslaved into Egyptian service like his cousins since all the Levites
knew the cunning of the Egyptians before the enslavement of the Israelites began.
