His name in Hebrew is: לוטן Lôwtân (lo-tawn’) Strongs #3877; covering.

Nothing is known about Lotan individually, although he possibly helped Esau in going to battle against his brother Jacob.  All that Lotan got from that battle was an extremely terrifying experience as he and his brothers confronted a mysterious army that fought for Jacob.  (1)

Lotan is mentioned in Gen. 36:20, 22, & 29; I Chron. 1:38 & 39 and Jash. 36:26 & 27.  In Gen. 36:29 he is known as a Duke.
