His name in Hebrew is: פלג Peleg (peh’-leg) Strongs #6389; earthquake. In Greek:
Φάλεκ Phalĕk (fal’-ek) Strongs #5317.
Eber, Peleg's father was 34 when Peleg was born, and Peleg lived to the age of 30
when his son, Reu was born. After the birth of Reu, Peleg lived to the age of 239.
In Jubilees 8:6, his name is spelled “Phalek,” whereas Jasher spells his name the
same way as the Scriptures. In Luke 3:35, it is spelled as “Phalec.”
In Genesis 10:25, it says that in the days of Peleg, the earth was divided, but in
Jasher 7:19, it says that in Peleg's days, the sons of men were divided, and in the
latter days, the earth was divided. In Jubilees 8:6, it says that in the days that
Peleg was born, the children of Noah divided the earth among themselves, and the
earth was divided three ways, ⅓ to the sons of Shem; ⅓ to the sons of Japheth; and,
⅓ to the sons of Ham. Or, maybe the meaning of his name will speak for itself.
Notes for Lamna:
Lamna is only mentioned in Jubilees 10:16 as the daughter of Sinaar. Jubilees is
the only book that mentions her.
